Amber Technology extends strategic partnership with ABB to New Zealand

ABB and Amber Technology have expanded their distribution agreement for ABB I-bus® KNX and ABB-free@home® into the New Zealand (NZ) market. This launch follows the extension of Amber Technology’s Australian agreement to include ABB-free@home in April 2025 and builds on the companies’ partnership which began in 2024.

This new partnership further strengthens Amber Technology’s offering in the residential and commercial installer network in the Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) region, providing a full suite of automation and lighting control systems for building projects of all sizes in the commercial and residential sectors. NZ integrators and installers will benefit from Amber Technology’s NZ distribution network, supporting greater product availability and accessibility for customers.

ABB-free@home® transforms any residence into a sophisticated smart home, offering seamless control over blinds, lights, heating, air conditioning, door communication, and customised scenes. Homeowners can effortlessly manage these systems using intuitive wall switches, laptops, or smartphones, enhancing comfort and energy efficiency while reducing costs compared to traditional electrical setups.

NZ integrators and installers will also gain access to ABB i-bus® KNX through Amber Technology as part of this partnership. ABB i-bus® KNX is a cutting-edge smart home and building automation system, built on the globally recognised KNX standard. This innovative system connects all electrical components into a unified network seamlessly for complete transparency and optimal information flow throughout an installation.

Duncan Baker, marketing and sales director, Smart Power and Smart Buildings Divisions – Electrification, ABB Limited, said, “ABB is delighted to extend its partnership with Amber Technology into the NZ market, further enhancing ABB’s offering in the commercial and residential sectors. Amber Technology’s expertise and market reach in the local region will play a key role in expanding the installer network, making ABB I-bus® KNX and ABB-free@home® the building automation solution of choice.
